Strictly Barking is a show for children aged 3-11 that combines clowning, non-verbal storytelling and audience interaction. Jonathan has worked with collaborator Oliver Nilsson to write, design and perform the show for Arts Centre Hounslow in 2022.
Drawing on Jon and Ollie's physical theatre training at the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School, Strictly Barking uses clowning, participatory theatre and non-verbal visual storytelling to create an engaging show for adults and children of all ages.
Strictly Barking was created with the support of the Finfringe Festival and in partnership with the Arts Centre Hounslow. It premiered in Turku, Finland in May 2022 and in Hounslow in July 2022.
Since then it has been performed for children and families, as well as groups of people with special educational needs, in the UK, Ireland, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Sweden, and toured Australia in 2023, where it won the Fringe World Festival's Best Children's Event Grand Prize and the Perth Now Critics' Choice Award.
It was the only children's show nominated for an OffFest Award for its tour to Edinburgh 2023 and, in 2024, it was nominated for Best Show at the UK Children's Comedy Festival 2024.
